Hey Students! Do you have a library card for the public library?
If not, ask your parents to help you get one. They are free and it will keep you busy and happy all summer long! Also, look at this power point to see how you can get prizes and even a free book just for reading this summer!
Mrs. Stuhff (Third grade) chose The BFG by Roald Dahl.
Mrs. Quick (Office) chose The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn.
Mrs. Topham (First grade) loves 'Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch' by Eileen Spinelli.
At few times a week a student will say "I don't know which book to choose,", or they will ask me to choose one for them. It is a little overwhelming since we have a LOT of titles to choose from! So, how do you begin to choose a book?
One way is to search by genre. To do this, search the Destiny program by typing in fantasy, for example., or mystery, or adventure books.
You can search by series such as 'Magic Tree House' or 'Geronimo Stilton'.
Maybe you love anything that has to do with dogs. This would be a subject search. Type in 'dogs', but be prepared to get a very long list.
.Another great way to choose a book is by searching for an author that you have enjoyed before. Favorite authors in our library are:
-Amy Krauss Rosenthal
How do YOU choose books? If you have a great idea, let me know so I can share it with others!
Mrs. Walsh was born in a traveling circus with three lions, six elephants and a monkey for pets. Mrs. Carlson loves to go home to her submarine under the Great Salt Lake where she lives with her husband and twelve children. Both Mrs. Carlson and Mrs. Walsh love their jobs in the library, especially reading and making up stories.
